For my 35th birthday, I'm hoping to raise $3,500 to support this incredible organization's goal to provide 1 million pounds of Georgia-grown produce annually to families across the state.
I began volunteering with Concrete Jungle in 2020 through their Grocery Delivery Program, packing and delivering boxes of produce to individuals with high-risk for COVID-19. Living in a state like Georgia, where fresh produce can be grown year-round, it was eye-opening to learn how many people lack access to healthy, fresh food.
Since then, Iāve participated in fruit picks around the city, gained hands-on farming experience at our urban farm in Southwest Atlanta, and seen the transformation of the Grocery Delivery Program into one of Concrete Jungleās most impactful initiatives: the Produce Buyers Club, which purchases imperfect produce from Georgia farmers and distributes it weekly to hunger relief agencies.
Whether Iām picking serviceberries, harvesting sweet potatoes, helping shape our growth plan, or collaborating with community partners, I know my efforts support Concrete Jungleās mission to reduce food waste and ensure everyone in our community has access to healthy, local, and delicious produce. Please join me in helping us increase access to nutritious food so folks can thrive!
