Putting an end to food waste and food insecurity
Since 2009 Concrete Jungle has been innovating ways to end food and nutrition insecurity for Georgians through volunteerism and a sense of fun.
What began as a hobby for a couple of Georgia Tech students, picking apples around town for a cider party, has become a state-wide operation, distributing nearly 2 million pounds of produce to people facing hunger. With our headquarters in Atlanta and a branch in Athens, Concrete Jungle has maintained community and fun while partnering with farmers across the state and nearly 40 hunger-relief organizations to alleviate nutrition insecurity.
And, while we're growing larger than ever, we cannot keep up with the demand. Unfortunately, food insecurity in Georgia, and the entire US keeps increasing. The latest USDA data indicates that food insecurity is rising across the US and in Georgia, especially amongst children.
