Love Local Fruits and Veggies? Love Community? Love Concrete Jungle!

Our family loves eating fresh, nourishing, local food. We love growing it in our garden. We love foraging for hidden treasures in our city (come with us next mulberry season!). We love supporting local farmers. And, we love sharing good food with our neighbors.

Concrete Jungle is my favorite Georgia organization doing exactly this, just on a BIG scale, powered by volunteers in our community. Concrete Jungle connects the dots between fresh food going to waste in our state and Georgians facing food insecurity. We gather and donate hundreds of thousands of pounds of food each year. We forage from neglected fruit trees in Atlanta, Athens, and beyond. We farm fruits and veggies locally right here in Sylvan Hills, Atlanta. We have great relationships with GA farmers who call us to rescue fruits and veggies on their farms that otherwise would rot in the fields. And, we deliver all this NOURISHING, LOCAL GOODNESS to our hunger relief partners who in turn can serve our neighbors with delicious and nutritious produce. Just magical, right?

Concrete Jungle has foraged, farmed, and delivered more than 500,000 pounds of produce to our partners this year! That's more than 2 million servings of fruits and veggies! Because of Concrete Jungle, thousands more of our neighbors have access to fresh produce each year, and far less food is going to waste on local fruit trees and farms.

For my birthday this year, I'm asking my loved ones to consider donating to Concrete Jungle. This community of wonderful people is caring for each other and the abundance of the earth around us. And having a GREAT time making an incredibly huge impact.
